Answers:
Q: How do you determine door handing for a lever set?
A: Door Handing- RA/SE Passage, Privacy and Full Dummy Functions are field reversible and do not require door handing. All other trim and functions require handing.
LH = Left Hand RH = Right Hand LHR = Left Hand Reverse RHR = Right Hand Reverse
Note: Communicating function Leverset and NY Handleset are both handed from outside where there are no levers. Inside lever will be opposite handing of the door.
i.e. Inside Lever is a Left Hand Lever for a Right Hand Communicating Set or a Right Hand NY Handleset. No lever on the outside.

Q: What are the choices and differences in your stainless steel finishes?
A: INOX® Stainless Steel Finishes:
*Satin Stainless Steel - US32D (926) *Bright Polished Stainless Steel - US32 (630) *Bright Polished + Satin Stainless Steel - Two-Tone SP* *Oil Rubbed Bronze on Stainless Steel - US10B (613)
Satin and Bright Polished Stainless Steel are primary INOX® finishes. The Satin Stainless Steel finish brings out the natural beauty of nickel, as nickel is the essence of stainless steel. Refined hand polishing reveals an elegant color and smooth texture. The Bright Polished finish reflects the other natural substance of stainless steel which is chrome, a finish that is always stylish and refreshing. These finishes are guaranteed for life, whereas a plated finish does not have the same longevity. Two-Tone SP* finish is a combination of Polished (32) finish in the neck of the lever and rose cover, and Satin (32D) finish on the grip of the lever. Contemporary design and material with a classic finish has been in ever increasing demand in the world of interior design. INOX® ORB (10B) offers a beautiful, dark satin finish with a metallic bronze undertone that can be seen with natural light reflection. Aging highlighs have also been carefully handcrafted by master craftsmen.

Q: Does Unison Hardware carry extended strikes?
A: No, INOX® does not currently carry extended strikes because there is such a large variety of frame thicknesses and styles in the market place. However, there are manufactureres who are more specialized in extended strikes, such as Don-Jo, and they carry a large variety in stock.

Q: Why is my INOX® stainless steel hardware rusting?
A: More often than not, the stainless steel lever or plate DID NOT “RUST”, it was contaminated. Contamination occurs when debris and other particles settle on the stainless steel. If those particles are not cleaned off then over time contaminates on the surface of the stainless steel will make the hardware appear to be rusting. Stainless Steel is a very “Lazy” material. It is designed to contain components, or ingredients, that are very inactive in order to prevent oxidation. Oxidation is a process that occurs when oxygen combines with metal materials along with water and in most cases sodium. This creates a new compound, usually referred to as oxide, or rust. However, this does not mean that dirt, impurities and other contaminants won’t reside and begin to oxidize on the surface of the stainless steel products – especially in severe environments like an ocean front or a location where construction has been going on nearby.
Before Cleaning After Cleaning
Solution:
1. The Preventative Solution is to clean the surface of the hardware on a regular basis to prevent contaminates from staying on the surface for an extended period of time. This can be done with a towel or soft sponge along with warm water and a mild soap.
2. If the surface was exposed to a severe environment for an extended period of time and has begun to show discoloring, then clean the surface with a stainless steel cleaner such as Flitz, along with a sponge to remove the contaminates. Unlike other brass or zinc based hardware products, this will not destroy the finish but rejuvenate the stainless steel finish. In severe cases, a soft scouring pad can be used with gentle pressure along the grain of the product finish. (Test in a small, less visible area first).
3. Choice of hardware finish: Bright polished stainless steel is easier to maintain then satin. If regular cleaning is a challenge, bright polished stainless steel is a better option as it is harder for dirt and contaminants to stay on the sleek surface.
4. Last, please take care of your door hardware. Stainless steel hardware requires cleaning over time, just like you would with your barbecue, refrigerator or boat.

Q: Can I order my chosen lever design as either a Solid or Hollow lever?
A: It is not an option to change a lever design from a Solid to a Hollow lever, and vice versa.. Hollow levers are constructed from a stainless steel hollow tube, and Solid levers are made from castings.
